Lawrence Roulston:

StockInterview: How do you quantify that?

Lawrence Roulston:
This is a amount that most people won’t get, and you also won’t get until you’ve been over there and have seen it. You can find 300 million people in China that are already very well into the middle class. By middle class, I am comparing (the Chinese middle class) to the same absolute standards as we would apply within Canada or the United States with regard to dollars in your bank account, importance of your house and your car, along with everything else. Lawrence Roulston:

If you enter any of those areas and you approach the small towns, a lot of people tend to be sitting around drinking coffee, weeping the blues and whining about how terrible life is. Get into a similar area in China, and the people are out doing work in the fields. In the middle of winter weather, they’re fixing up their fences, this dams and terraces, and clearing rocks, removing timber and stuff like that. It’s if you are a of industry I’ve never seen in any other part of the world. So it is going from that ground level even the entrepreneurs, and the folks who are building the high climb condominium complexes in Shanghai.

StockInterview: The length of time will it take before U . s . investors realize the effect China has on the global economic climate?

Lawrence Roulston:
It’s going to happen in a gradual approach. I think those that keep their own heads buried in the mud are going to get left behind since the world pulls ahead. I would suggest any investor in any corporation ask the question with the company: “Is that company involved in some way in China?” There are many of North American companies that use a significant presence in Tiongkok in terms of doing business over there, of getting established, of selling products or manufacturing products in China and taiwan.

StockInterview: Why is China so important with regards to this commodities bull market place, and are there still opportunities for investors?

Lawrence Roulston:
There is a lot involving geological potential, and there is the understanding that it’s difficult. Therefore, generally there isn’t yet a big crowd of men and women over there chasing after deals. The flip side of it is that China as well as neighbors in southeast Japan, representing 3 billion persons, are going through the modern industrialization process. That’s going to continue to create a massive need for metals for, I believe, a decade or probably even a several decades into the future.
